Coco

Chocolate
Conventional cocoa plant-growing methods are bad for the planet and for the farmworkers who grow it. Traditionally, cocoa was grown in the shade, but for higher yields farmers switched to new varieties for the sun. That also means bad news for the animals that rely on cocoa farms for habitat. Moreover, toxic pesticides are used to grow the cocoa, and the residues can show up in chocolate. Most of the less-established farmers who grow cocoa aren’t paid fairly, and in some cases, farms use forced child labor(Western Africa).  So , in conclusion, try being more selective about the chocolate you purchase, like USDA certified organic, Fair Trade Certified, and Rainforest Alliance Certified (those are just a few of the labels that support small farms and sustaine agriculture).
