Fun X-mas Facts (The true meaning of the holiday season)

• Christmas is the celebration of the birth Jesus Christ, the Holy Babe of Bethlehem. 

• The roots of Christmas observance go deeply into the folklore of the Druids, Scandinavians, Romans, and Egyptians. 

• There is no American household that does not color its christmas with a European observance or two, such as gift giving, trees, greenery, food, games, and/or ritual.

• Christmas is the present name for the Yule, or Jul of the Northern Europeans, Noel of the French, Noche Buena of the Spanish, and Christ Mass originated from the Roman Catholic Church (the feast in honor of the Nativity of Jesus).

• When Christmas is written, Xmas it is simply because the “X” is the Greek equivalent of “ch,” and therefore represents the word “Christ.”
